Scale model Airship
Set in a post-apocolyptic earth, the Airship utilizes antigravity technology. The 200 year old ship is a cargo carrier/smuggling vessel with a crew of 24. The ship is fitted with several cavernous cargo holds and loading cranes on both the stern and bow. The wheel-house, crew cabins and equipment rooms are situated above deck. The antigravity generators and located inside the hull and are in a constant state of repair.
Through the years of abuse and aggressive encounters with competitors, the Kimchi has been patched and repaired with whatever scrap metal the crew encounters.
Inspired by the artwork of Ian Mcque, this is my AIRSHIP scale model.
HOW IT WAS MADE:
I started out with a foam armature mounted to a bed of mdf.
I sculpted clay to form the hull and immediately vacuformed the model and fiberglassed the interior for strength.
From there I went to the computer and designed hull plates and structural forms that I could laser cut in varying thicknesses of styrene and acrylic.
The model is a full 18" tall.
Thanks to my Michael, I received a very generous donation of kit bash parts I'm using on this project. Thanks Michael!
