Fertility Goddess

This is my representation of a Fertility Goddess. It is inspired by the idealization of female fertility, drawn from the "Venus of Willendorf", believed to have been carved 24,000-22,000 B.C.  I was lucky enough to have seen this in person in Vienna, Austria.

I oversized my sculpture by a great deal from the original sculpture (only a few inches tall).  Mine stands over 2 feet tall (ideal for a garden sculpture)

The Goddess original carving doesn't have any feet, but I decided to give her some to lend some support to the sculpture. I also sculpted her on a base.  Here are the beginning stages using water based clay.

Roughing in some of the basic shapes...

 Scultping some refined shapes

 She's got a head finally!

Starting the pebbled texture on the head.

Finished Sculpture

The finished display castings are rotocast in a high impact urethane which is strong as nails and can weather the exterior elements for the ages.

**Plaster or concrete versions available on special request! (shipping is MUCH more because of the weight).

If you'd like to add this sculpture to your art gallery, don't hesitiate to contact me.  Cristofer Adrian impervium@hotmail.com

The photo below was taken July 2010.  This is the first fully finshed casting of the fertility Goddess.  She is cast in hydrostone from a painstakingly made RTV mold.  Total weight is about 20 pounds! It is being donated to a charity.
