GATE KEEPER DROID/SENTRY DROID

TT-8L/Y7 gatekeeper droid

I love this robot.  When I was modeling the parts, I put a little extra time into articulating the joints so they move and flex with the sliding sleeve. The parts colored in TAN can be replaced with PVC/dowels instead of 3D printed. The main neck is perfectly scaled to be replaced with 1" i.d. home depot PVC.   I trunkated the length on the 3D model purposely, but if you would like to build one to scale, add about 18" to the rear pipes.

The entire parts set is scaled with a 6" outer diameter 'eyeball' and the entire assembly is 37 inches long with the neck midway extended.

Spherical objects tend to be a bit low-poly, so you will want to smooth them using filler techniques and/or high fill primer.  (see my tutorial video linked below)

TIPS FOR 3D PRINTING:  Since the walls of the eyelids and iris are thin-shelled, I suggest using ABS for it's strength vs. PLA.  If you use PLA you want to PRINT WITH 100% INFILL and re-enforce the walls with bondo.

These transparent beads on Amazon appear to be a perfect match for the  sclera detail.
