D-Charge commission

Device made for a live action video game commercial.

Made 100% from scratch, DreamScheme Studios.

The best way to approach this project, because of its symmetrical & mechanical nature, was to design individual components in CAD software, and laser cut the parts in varying thicknesses of acrylic, pvc and ABS.

Here are the results:

Here's the laser cut parts in acrylic in thicknesses from 1/16" to 2".

Here's a rough assembly of the various compents:

Beginning to glue parts together to create the needed shells:

First look at a nearly finished first test assembly:

Here you can see the various layers brought together and glued.  These will need to be trimmed and sanded flush:

Before beveling the ring edges:

After the bevel operation:

After a little more sanding we're left with:

In addition to the main assembly, I needed to make the mounts for the underside of the D-Charge.  This was done using acrylic, styrene, and bondo.

And here's a proof of scale:

The producers needed three reproductions of the original pattern, so......... time to create rubber molds and cast reproductions!!!
