This is a build-blog for SIR RICHARD'S SHIELD; appearing as the final marker in The Last Crusade.
Panel kit consists of 2 panel castings (each over 19" tall) and a few dozen rivet heads.

The texture on this prop is absolutely wonderful!
To start things out, I needed to draw all the CAD artwork using ILLUSTRATOR and COREL. This was a lot of hours of research and painstaiking time at the computer. Here's the results:
This artwork is created from scratch to allow some options for construction. I decided I would either CNC a wooden surface or laser cut a foam surface to achieve the level of detail I needed.
Test print on paper to test scale and positioning of the raster features. The shield test is flat but already I can see that I need to make some scaling and text adjustments.
Now it's time to put that CAD design to work on a LASER CUTTER. After a few hours of tests on different power/speed settings:
