BLADE RUNNER VOIGHT KAMPFF for 3D PRINTING

Presenting, for your DIY builders, the first ever, BLADERUNNER VOIGHT KAMPFF machine designed specifically for 3D printing!!  8 years ago I set about making a lifesized replica of the VK machine.  I achieved it using wood, acrylic, plastic and automotive fillers.  We've come a LOOONG way since those analog days and I decided to take all my knowledge and research and create the first fully realized digital Voight Kampff machine designed SPECIFICALLY for 3D printing.

This is the ultimate culmination of over TEN YEARS OF RESEARCH and hard work. The files are in STL format and the defaul scale of this project is life-sized, so you'll likely need to section the larger parts.  The walls are designed at 4mm thick so you have some amount of flexibility for creating a scaled mini version.

For reference, check the PHYSICAL LIFESIZE MODEL, now available HERE.   The proportions and details of this digital model is nearly identical to the physical model, with some tolerance adjustments to accomodate a pleasant 3D printing experience.

Some notes on this digital model I created: I designed this model to be lighting-friendly.  I engineered openings directly underneath the baffles and underneath the dual-monitors.  The model is hollow with 4mm thick walls.  All 3 monitors are hollow allow you to install back-lighting or even video screens if you choose.  I provide the baffles in two options: A single baffle (if you plan on stacking them an motorizing 'breathing' movement, and a set of combined baffles for making a static baffle assembly.

The swivel arm can be modified to actually mount and articulate.  The Scanner head can also be mounted in such a way as to articulate in all the ways the real VK machine functions.  Depending on how you assemble your model, you can have the arm and scanning head nested in the DOWN position, or you can swivel into its UP position.   If you check out my VOIGHT KAMPFF MACHINE physical model, we have actually made a version that FULLY automates breathing bellows, working monitors, and fully automated animated swivel arm and scanner. It's absolutely incredible!!

The file set (no physical media) includes:

  1. CURATED REFERENCE FOLDER (all my years of research packed into one file)
  2. PDF artwork for the large monitor, and PDFartwork for the 2 smaller monitors.  You can print these on photo paper and use as window fillers.  You can also print them on transparencies and backlight them.
  3. Video file for the monitors sourced from the 1982 production.  These will need sizing and looping
  4. MAIN BODY (STL format)  The walls are 4mm thick.  I engineered open slots directly underneath the baffles and the dual-monitors to help you with electronics installation should you choose to add them to your project.
  5. DUAL-MONITORS (STL format)
  6. Baffles (I provide a single baffle, and also a grouped set of 5 baffles you can print all at once to make a static non-moving version.
  7. Baffle mount plate
  8. Set of 2 VK BADGES (one moutns on top of the main monitor, the other mounts on the face.
  9. underside panel.  I engineered an access port large enough to reach inside the model . This panel is provided in THREE formats: STL, SVG and PDF to allow you options (print, vs laser cut vs. print blueprint to trace onto wood or plastic)
  10. SET OF LENSES (can be printed in clear)
  11. Slide-out tray.  This tray is seen in some behind the scenes photos.  It remains closed in the movie so it is your choice if you want to include it in your project.
  12. SWIVEL ARM
  13. SCANNER MOUNT
  14. SCANNER
  15. SCANNER EYE
  16. SCANNER LENS
  17. 3 square buttons. These can be printed in milky white resin. They mound to the front left corner.
  18. POCKET DETAIL LEFT SIDE
  19. POCKET DETAIL RIGHT SIDE
This is clearly an incredibly well thought-out replica!! That being said, advanced modeling skills are recommended for this build, especially if you plan on on intruducing any automation and lighting to your buidup.  Some parts are not 3D-printable (rods, wires, etc..) so you'll need to source those.  THIS MODEL IS DESIGNED FOR THE WELL SEASONED BUILDER!!
